CIRC staff are excited to announce that the next iteration of BlueHive, known as BlueHive 3, is now available for testing. The newer computing environment and GPUs (such as L40S and H100 GPUs) are available as part of BlueHive 3. Please be aware that if you currently have a BlueHive account, you can use both the original BlueHive and the new BlueHive 3 clusters.
The main advantages of using BlueHive 3 include:
- A login node that is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 9 (RHEL 9)
- New libraries supported by RHEL 9 for features such as VSCode and containerized applications
- An updated Slurm environment (Slurm 24)
- Access to updated compute nodes (newer CPUs and GPUs)
- A new FastX that uses an updated GNOME interface with easier copy-and-paste
- A new Jupyter server that takes advantage of the updated computing environment
Since both the original BlueHive cluster and the new BlueHive 3 cluster will co-exist for a period, we have updated the info.circ webpages to provide information about both. Please watch for future announcements regarding the new computing environment.
