Policies

In support of the University of Rochester’s mission of scholarship, the Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC) provides access to information technology and its associated personnel for the purpose of serving research activities that involve high-performance computing and big data technologies and methods. CIRC also supports NIST 800 compliant systems. CIRC is governed by the general Information Technology policies outlined by the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and the research policies outlined by the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) at the University of Rochester.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intellilgence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology. CIRC provides access to these tools to support research, learning, and innovation, and we want to make sure our users have the resources they need. In return, we ask that you use them fairly, responsibly, and ethically.

You are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable policies, regulations, and terms of service that govern your use of these tools, including those of your research group, the University of Rochester, funding agencies, and any third-party model providers.

AI models can and do produce incorrect, misleading, or fabricated outputs (commonly called “hallucinations”). By using these tools you acknowledge this limitation and accept responsibility for verifying and validating any outputs before acting on them or sharing them.
